Immokalee, Collier County

Demolition in Immokalee

Immokalee is a farm town in unincorporated Collier County whose population rises and falls with the harvest. Many of its homes are trailers, and housing groups there have spent years replacing the worst of them.

A housing alliance formed after Hurricane Irma, in response to damage to already substandard trailers and shacks rented by farmworker families. It has planned a 128-unit apartment community on ten acres, in eight two-story buildings of sixteen apartments each, to replace housing of that kind. Its funding has come in stages, so replacement is slow, and old units stay in use for a long time.

The county has also designated Immokalee a community redevelopment area, one of two in the unincorporated county, with a plan that lists safe, affordable housing among its goals. A demolition here may sit inside that plan's boundaries, and the county's redevelopment staff can say how.

Older trailers and shacks can hold asbestos, mold and unsafe framing, and several families may share one lot. We arrange a licensed survey for asbestos and mold, confirm who owns each structure, and then plan the removal. Septic tanks and wells are common, so abandonment and closure are part of the scope.

What we quote in Immokalee

Demolition work we quote in this area

Start to finish

Six stages in a fixed order

Romco Builders is a licensed Florida general contractor, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. These stages apply whether the job is a small shed or a large building.

  1. Send the address and the scope

Ring us or use the quote form, and attach photos or drawings if you have them. Give the area, what has to go and what has to stay.

  2. We walk the site

We visit the lot and look at the building, the utility connections, septic or sewer, the flood zone, how machines and trucks will get in, and the neighbors.

  3. Written scope and quote

A written quote lists what comes out, what is shielded, and what leaves by truck. Anything that depends on a survey is marked.

  4. Surveys, permit and disconnects

Required asbestos testing, utility shutoffs and septic abandonment happen here, and the permit goes to the office that covers your parcel.

  5. Demolition and haul-off

The crew follows the agreed order of work. Debris is taken to permitted facilities, and load records are kept.

  6. Final inspection

The permit is closed by the building department after its last inspection, leaving a clear lot or the shell you requested.

Questions

Demolition in Immokalee

Can you remove a trailer that several families have lived in?

Yes, once the paperwork is clear. We confirm who owns the unit and the lot, arrange a licensed survey for asbestos and mold, and arrange the utility disconnects and any septic closure before work begins.

What goes into the cost of a demolition?

A quote comes after we visit the property, or after we review photos and drawings that show enough. The price follows the building's materials and height, the asbestos survey, utility and septic work, how machines reach the lot, what stays, and where the debris goes. We do not publish prices, because two lots that look alike seldom cost alike.

What is done about asbestos before a demolition?

Testing comes first, by an independent licensed consultant, since the federal asbestos rule wants a thorough inspection ahead of a regulated demolition. Naples and Marco Island both say a survey is filed with the state environmental agency where asbestos is present. When material is found that the job would disturb, a licensed abatement firm takes it out. We schedule the two visits but never perform abatement.

How long until work can begin?

That cannot be answered honestly before the facts are in. The start moves with permit review at your office, notice periods like the fourteen days Naples gives neighbors, historic review, utility and septic paperwork, asbestos findings and the weather. We hand you the order of work, with each dependency named, once those are known.
